quick updates

well, it's been forever since i updated this. I'm usually on facebook, so i tend to forget i have this thing. Rhayne is getting bigger every day. She's almost 3 feet tall and seems to have no off switch. She's not talking a whole lot that makes sense, most of it is just babbeling, though she does have some words for things. She learned baby and all dogs, even stuffed ones are "vava." Em's parents have 2 huskies, one of which is named Vasil and thats what she calls him, so for the time being, all dogs are vava. I'm gonna be working again at the mall this christmas, doing santa pics. I did it last year as well as easter bunny pics this year. Its an easy job, and Brenda is awesome to work with. There were days last christmas that i got paid to do my christmas shopping, since it was slow. Em's still working at Echostar, but he just got a promotion a few weeks ago, his first in probably 3 years. Unfortunately, this new promotion came with the loss of his day shift. He is working from 5 at night to 1:30 in the morning. He got put on this schedule in july, before the promotion, so really the only difference now is that he doesn't have saturday's off anymore. (for a few short weeks, he had saturday's off, which was really really nice.)

updates

So, here are a few quick updates, since i haven't done so in a while. I've been doing ok since my mom died in March. I just try to take it day by day. I had to have surgery at the end of April to have my gallbladder removed, which it took them 5 or 6 different tests to confirm the diagnosis. Emerson is doing well. He's still working at Echostar, the 17th was his 7 year anniversary there. Rhayne is doing well too. I can't believe how big she is getting. She just started walking by herself about 2 weeks ago, so it's been fun trying to keep up with her. She loves to close doors and feels every time she sees an open door, she has to close it. However, she will often close herself in the room, which either leads to a tantrum, or a mess as she tears things apart. She's not talking a whole lot, at least that makes sense, but she is very smart. Too smart for her own good some days. Thankfully, baby bed time has arrived, and Rhayne is now sleeping, so i can relax for a little bit.

updates

Wow, it's been a long time since i updated my livejournal. It's been a rollercoaster year. Rhayne turned 1 on February 16th and had a party, where she made a huge mess with her cake. My brother came to visit for my 25th birthday on the 28th of Feb. That was the upside. The next morning, March 1st, my stepfather and my dad called us at 6 in the morning to tell us that my mom had had a massive stroke and was in the hospital. That started the morning off with some crazyness. Sandy came over to pick up the baby so she could watch her for what we thought would be the day while Emerson went to work and Tommy and I went up to New Jersey to go be with my mom. An hour or so later, Tommy and I were getting ready to get on the highway, and were pulling in to get gas when our dad called us with some devastating news. The doctors had confirmed that she had no brain activity and was considered brain dead. So, after going to get Emerson at work, the three of us went up to new Jersey to deal with all of this. She was still on a respirator and life support when we got there. Where she was an organ doner, the doctors had to run all sorts of tests to find out what organs were usable. According to the transplant nurse that spoke to us, over 100 people could be helped because of her donations. It was aweful to see my mom like that. It caused me to have a panic attack and a trip to the emergency room at the insistence of the hospital people. The only good thing that came from that trip was the fact that i got to pick up my new car 2 weeks earlier. I got a 1997 Mercury Mountaineer. It's red and pretty and all mine. My Taurus finely crapped out. Last month, I was diagnosed with both mild depression and anxiety due to all that i am dealing with. I'm on lexapro and it really seems to help. Over the last 3 weeks, i've been to the hospital 4 times for tests on my gallbladder. I had a sonogram to look for gallstones, a HIDA scan to look at my gallbladder and an endoscopy to collect a sample of my bile. Both the sonogram and HIDA scan came back normal, so my doctor sent me to a surgeon because i was presenting all the classic symptoms of gallbladder problems. He did an endoscopy the very next day and found crystals in my bile, wihich is the start of gallstones. the next day, i went in for surgery to have my gallbladder removed. The surgeon also found that there were adhesions between my gallbladder and the upper end of my intestines, where the stomach and intestines meet. So, I'm still pretty sore from that. My tummy looks like swiss cheese, since they had to cut 5 holes in me. Rhayne is doing well. She is nearly walking. She can do it if she is holding on to someone or something, but not much by herself. That doesn't slow her down any. She has figured out how to unroll toilet paper, eject PS3 disks and turn off the vcr. She's quite a smart little cookie. And a bottomless pit. She eats everything she can. If you are eating something, then it must be for her as well. And she has her daddy's sweet tooth. She loves strawberry milk shakes from coldstone creamery. She learned to drink from a straw when she was 6 months old, on the 1st try. We got a 2nd cat just after christmas. His name is Nick and he's a little terror. He is the most attention seeking cat, even worse then Donner. And he never stops purring. But, he has bad gas, so you have to be careful when you pick him up, because he may fart in your face. Well, that's about all thats newsworthy. Time to go watch Pitchmen on Discovery.

Rhayne

Well, Rhayne is 7 weeks old today. I can't believe that it's been 7 weeks. I know this sounds cliche, but the time has flown by. She is getting so much bigger. I can really see a difference in her already. She is up over 9 pounds now and close to 22 inches long. We'll know for sure in 2 weeks when she goes for a check-up. She still has the most beautiful blue eyes, though I don't know how much longer they are going to stay that color. She is holding her head up by herself, but she isnt rolling over just yet. We think that that is partially our fault though, since at night we have to swaddle her up in order to get her to sleep. Otherwise it takes forever and a day for her to calm down enough to go to sleep. On average, she is sleeping about 4-5 hours at a stretch, though there have been about 4 nights that she slept all night. I'm keeping my fingers crossed that she does that more often. Emerson created a photobucket site with pictures of her, which we update about every 2 weeks. Here is the link http://s254.photobucket.com/albums/hh106/Zalantar/Baby/.
Well, that's all for now. It's time to put Rhayne down for the night. Wish me luck.

It's been a while

Sorry that it's been a long while since I have posted anything. Things have been unbelievably crazy for me for the last 43 weeks. Why that exact number of weeks? For those of you who didn't know, I got pregnant in June and had the baby 2 weeks ago today, February 16. Her name is Rhayne Aleksys Kyransaleigh. She was 21.5 inches long and weighed in at 7 pounds 15 ounces, though now I think she is closer to 9 or maybe even 10 pounds. She has brown hair that comes almost to her shoulders and for the time being blue eyes, though they have gotten darker in the last 2 weeks. Then 4 days later, two big things happened. On Wednesday, the 20th, my sister had her baby that morning. Yes, my sister was pregnant at the same time as me. Unfortunatly, her baby, Ryan, was 5 weeks early. He was small, but otherwise ok. Then less than 12 hours later I get the worst phone call of my life. My dad called to tell me that my me-ma died that night. So, just six days after having a c-section, Emerson, Rhayne and I had to drive up to NJ for the wake and funeral. It was the longest few days of my life. But we're back home now and I'm hanging in there, enjoying my new baby and Emerson's time off of work. We are going to work on getting a photobucket account or something set up so that we can upload pictures of Rhayne, and we have a lot already. But in the meantime, here is a link for one picture of her. It's a cute picture, but it really doesn't fully show just how beautiful she really is.
http://www.our365.com/NewbornPortraits/BabyDetail.aspx?birthid=5ffa4756-c7c0-4465-948e-c81b4909088a

We will be getting dish soon but unfortunatly, DSL isnt available where we are, which is odd, since mom and ralph can get it and they are farther from C'burg than we are.
Work, Work, Work

Well, I have been working for 3 weeks now and it seems to be going well. Everyone I work with is really nice and a lot of fun. 8 hours of standing though is taking a toll on my tendonitis. My ankle has been killing me since I started working. But it's a paycheck and we need the money. Especially since we will be moving in April. I can't wait to move. I hate having to park 3 buildings over when I get home from work, especially when I am working a midnight shift. This week I have no midnight shifts, so I am excited. The latest I work this week is 9:30, which is really nice. Last week, Jennifer asked me if I was going to be working there long or if I was looking for another job. I told her I was not looking too hard for another job and if I did find one, then I would probably still work there, however just part-time. She then told me that she was thinking about making me a front end manager. I thought that was cool, especially since I have only been there a week. That same day, Mr. Bess, the store manager, told me that I was a great cashier and that James, one of the baggers, and I were the A-team. It's still weird that he knows Steve. Working with someone who knows your ex is a little strange. Well, I'm gonna go enjoy my last day off, which I am spending watching the Hannibal Lecter movies (Red Dragon, Silence of the Lambs, and Hannibal).

Working

Well, I got a job last week. I am working full time at Kroger in Radford as a cashier. I know its not a great job, but its money and I need money. I am making $7.12 an hour, which I know isn't much, but it's more than I would make sitting at home watching tv. Sometimes 8 hours of cashiering seems to take forever. My feet have been killing me since my first day on Thursday. Well, I gotta go get ready for work, I'm working 3:30 til midnight, and I still need to do my hair and stuff.

Graduation

Well, I did it. I graduated. Graduation was on Friday and it went really well. Surprisingly, I did not cry during the ceremony, and I didn't trip going across the stage, which I was afraid of. I actually told my friend Kenny, who was right behind me, not to let me fall. Everybody seemed to get along, or at least pretended to on my account. There was no fighting, which was good. I got my grades yesterday, and I got an A- in child social development, a B+ in American Studies and Psyc disorders, and a B in Asian religion. It brought my GPA up to a 2.45 overall, which is pretty good. It has come up a whole grade since I got back from suspension. Well thats all for now.

Well, I'm done. 4 1/2 years and I'm finally finished. I took my last exam this morning and turned all my papers last on Tuesday. Now all I have to do is go to graduation on Friday. I won't get my diploma till nearly March but I'll be graduated. I'm really excited. I have worked so hard to get to this point and there were times when I wasn't sure it was going to work. But I held on and on Friday I will be a college graduate. I bought my cap and gown last week and today I bought my Virginia Tech Alumni sticker for my car. Now comes the fun of trying to find a job. I applied for one through Virginia Tech. The psyc department is looking for a research assistant for one of their sites in Roanoke. They only required a bachelor's in psychology, which i have. Maybe I'll get it. Keep your fingers crossed for me.

screwed up

Why is it that my family picks the worst times to get screwed up? My sister and my mom had it out recently and they aren't really speaking. Now my mom isn't sure if Chrissy is going to come to graduation or if she is going to stand her up. Bob doesn't want my mom to drive down here by herself and neither does my mom. Bob suggested bringing Jessica with her, but my mom doesn't want her to miss any more school. Bob is trying to get some time off of work to come with my mom, but I don't know how successful he is going to be, since graduation is 10 days before Christmas and that is one of the busiest times for UPS. So, now I'm not sure if my mom is going to be able to come for my graduation? Tommy isn't going to be coming, but he is at basic training right now, so I knew he wasn't coming. Why couldn't all this shit involving my mom, my sister and the prick Danny, whom chrissy won't realize is a jerk, happened now and couldn't have happened say, in January after graduation?

Well, graduation is growing closer and closer, 27 days to be exact. But even with graduation getting closer, the amount of work keeps getting greater.
Picture Day

Today was picture day. I got my senior picture taken today. And it had to be cold and windy today of all days. I think they will come out ok. I'll find out in 3 weeks when the proofs come. Then I will send copies to my mom and dad and see which ones they like and then see about ordering some. I want to make sure i get some since my dad forgot to order my senior pics when i was in high school.

December yet?

Is it December yet? I am so ready to graduate. I have been so busy the last few weeks. Too much school work and not enough hours in the day. I had a test in my disorders class and a group presentation to do today in my American Studies class. I really wish that I could go home right now and take a nap until I have to go pick up Em from work, but I really should go to class. I have a paper due in 2 weeks for my disorders class. We have to do a case study of a child, real or fictional, who has a disorder. I originally was going to do Stewie Griffin, but a bunch of people in the class are doing Stewie, and Chris, and I don't want to do one that everyone else is doing. So after a search through our over 300 DVDs at home, I narrowed it down to Haley Joel Osment's character in "The Sixth Sense" and Alessa Gillespi from "Silent Hill." I am leaning toward Alessa since others may do the "I see dead people" kid, and I doubt too many will do Alessa. I have a midterm next Tuesday in my American Studies class, which I am not looking forward to, especially since I have to go buy a blue book for it, which means that I need to scrounge up 25 cents for it. My daddy is coming to see me in a couple of weeks, so I can't wait. It means a really good dinner at Kabuki!! Well, gotta go read about depression now for disorders class.

Sad

I feel pretty sad today. Yesterday, Xavia, one of my ferrets, died. I went into the bedroom to check on them to make sure they had food and stuff and I saw her back end sticking out from under one of the shelves. When I opened the cage door, Zoe came out to try to get out, but Xavia didn't move. I poked her a couple of times, but she didn't move. That started to worry me, because even though she slept like a log, she would wake up if you opened the cage or if you tapped her. I tried to pull her out from under the shelf and when I did, I discovered that she was very stiff and wasn't moving at all. Then I knew that she was dead. It made me really sad. I sent Em a text message saying that she had died and then I called Ralph and asked if it was ok if we came up to bury her in their yard, since living in an apartment, we don't have a yard that we can dig in. So when Em got home from work, we went up to his mom's and buried her underneath a tree. Then mom and Ralph took us out for dinner to Ryan's. I didn't even finish all my homework yesterday. I was just so upset. At least I finished my paper for my Asian Religions class before I realized that Xavia was dead. I feel really bad, since we used to call her names and were sometimes mean to her, but I still loved her. Now I have this bad feeling that I am going to be a horrible mother since I can't even keep my pets alive, how am I going to keep my child alive when the time comes (no, I am not pregnant if you thought that). Well, its time to go try to read my article for my abnormal child psychology class.

what a day

Let me just say that I am glad that I only have class on Tuesday and Thursday. Not that that should have mattered today since all classes were canceled today. There is an escaped convict on the loose and he was spotted near campus today, so they shut down campus. What an interesting first day for all the new students. "Welcome to Tech, classes are canceled." I wonder if classes will be held tomorrow if they don't catch him.

Summer session grades

Well, I got my grades for second summer session today. I got straight A's. I got an A in human sexuality and an A- in cognitive psychology. This is the first time in my life that I have gotten straight A's. I nearly had straight A's in first summer session as well. I got an A in intro sociology and a B+ in children's lit. These grades have helped my GPA. I am nearly up to a 2.4, it's now like a 2.37 or something like that. Well that it for now.

On break

Well, summer semester is over. I took my psyc final yesterday. I think I passed it. I know I got an A- in human sexuality. I missed getting an A by 0.5, which sucks. I wish that I had missed it by 1 or 2 points. I don't know what I got in psyc, but I probably got a B+ because I bombed a test. Well, not really bombed. I got an 81, which is low compared to what I got on the first test, a 92.5. That 81 killed any chance of getting an A. Thats what happens when you find out that your husband's ex may have passed on a little gift without telling him. We found out that Em's ex-girlfriend has HIV and didn't tell Em about it. We went for an HIV test last week. We found out Thursday that it was negative. So that was a huge relief. This though leads to some more questions, like did she really have it or was it a bull shit story made up because the person we heard it from does not like her? I don't know what to think, though the last two weeks were the longest of my life. So now, I have a week off to do absolutly nothing until fall semester starts, my last semester before I graduate. Yesterday was mine and Em's anniversary. We went to BW3s to have wings and shoot pool before we went to the game.

updates

Well, its been like forever since I last wrote, so I figured I would take a break from cleaning the apartment. Yes, you read right, I am cleaning. Anyway, it's been pretty good here. I'm still going to school. That December graduation date is coming steadily closer and my GPA is increasing slowly but surely. I got an A in intro to sociology and B+ in children's lit last summer session (I can't remember if I posted that or not). Now I am taking human sexuality and cognitive psychology. I am averaging about a B+ in human sexuality and an A in cognitive psyc. I got my first cog psyc test back today and got an 90.5 on it. Everything else here pretty good. Em is still working in hell, I mean at Echostar. We just bought yesterday the fourth and final season of "The Pretender." That show is so awesome. I've decided, and Em agrees, that our second son, if we have more than one, we are going to name Jarod Michael. The first one will be Draven Alekzandr. Anyway, thats off track. My brother is coming in on Saturday to spend a week or two with us. I have to drive up to Roanoke on Saturday morning to meet him at the bus station, since for some reason, they closed the C'burg greyhound station. He was supposed to be coming down for my graduation this December, but now won't be able to since he will be at basic training. Tommy is going into the Navy. He just got in about a 3 weeks ago and is really excited and can't wait to go to basic. I think that cuz my mom and step-dad are pissing him off, as he is doing to them. It's an unending circle. Chrissy moved back to NJ at the end of last month. She came in for Tommy's graduation and just didn't go back. She was fed up with the people she was living with. So now she is looking for a place to move with her fiance, Danny. Well, thats about it. It's time to go finish cleaning and write my cog psyc reaction paper that I have put off since Tuesday so that I can watch more Pretender

Long day

So far, its been a pretty long day, and I have only been awake since 12:30. I didn't sleep all that well last night. I kept waking up. Em and I both woke up around 3:15 this morning. I think it was my pain meds wearing off. My tendonitis is really bothering me, and it didn't help that I slammed that foot against a brick wall last night either. I think now it is slightly sprained. I have been working on a paper all day today. At least it only had to be 3 pages, so it only took about 3 hours to do. It was on Goodnight Moon, which was one of my favorite books when I was a kid. Now I have to catch up on my sociology reading, while completly zoning from the lortab i took for my ankle. We were supposed to go to Trav's tonight for a game, but since I am in a lot of pain and we both didn't sleep well, we aren't gonna go. I have a lot of reading to do and I have to start studying for my next exam, which is on Wednesday. I need to get better than an 82 on this one, so that the 82 will be the lowest grade I have in the class and when I ace my final, it is dropped and I will end up with an A in sociology.
